Donation notification not appearing in stream?

1 min read

If the donation notification doesn’t appear in your stream, do the following steps:
On the Overlay Alert page, click the “Test Alert” button.
If the test alert appears, it’s working normally.

If the test alert doesn’t appear, try deleting the browser source for the donation notification and creating a new one.
Then, try clicking “Test Alert” again.
If the test alert appears, it’s back to normal.

If the donation notification still doesn’t appear while streaming, do the following:

Open the donation notification source browser, in the popup that appears, click “Refresh cache of current page”.

Then make sure “Refresh browser when scene becomes active” is checked.

Then try clicking “Test Alert” again.
If the test alert appears, it’s normal.
If the notification appears intermittently, it’s likely that the OBS cache is too full, making it difficult for your computer to display notifications.

To clear the cache in OBS:
Open “Run” (click the Windows logo + R)
Go to %appdata%\obs-studio\plugin_config\obs-browser\Cache
Delete all cache files

*If using Streamlabs, change step 2 above to: %appdata%\obs-client\plugin_config\obs-browser
If it still appears intermittently, change the “Hardware Acceleration” setting in the “Advanced Settings” menu.

Information for users of the latest version of OBS:
If the notification appears intermittently, you may need to uninstall the previous version of OBS.

Additional info:
Make sure “Control audio via OBS” is unchecked so that SociaBuzz donation notification sounds can be heard.
